Guangxi to Operate 12 Overseas Air Routes

Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which has the most popular tourist destination in China, including the picturesque city of Guilin, has been authorized to operate 12 overseas air routes from March 25 to October 27, the peak tourism season for Guangxi.

That will represent a rise of 5 percent from the winter-spring season that just passed, said a local civil aviation official, explaining that the move is designed to meet the demand of a drastic rise in the number of tourists in this southern Chinese autonomous region in summer and autumn.

According to the official, seven of the overseas air routes will be operated from the airport in Guilin, famous for its beautiful natural scenery and strangely shaped karst formations, to Seoul of the Republic of Korea, Fukuoka of Japan, Hong Kong and Macao. Another four will be offered from Nanning, the regional capital, to Hanoi of Viet Nam, Bangkok of Thailand and Hong Kong, and the last one will operate from the city of Beihai on the Beibu Gulf to Hong Kong.

There will be 41 flights offered from cities in Guangxi to overseas destinations each week during summer and autumn, the official added.
