Government Urged to Handle ProposalsThe National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) asked relevant government departments to deal with the proposals submitted by CPPCC members during its just finished fourth annual session."The relevant departments of the government will now be asked to implement the proposals," Ye Xuanping, vice-chairman of the Ninth CPPCC National Committee, told representatives from more than 100 governmental departments in Beijing. He said the CPPCC members have seriously fulfilled their obligations by offering suggestions and criticisms about the development of the country. The CPPCC, the country's top advisory body, has made great efforts to put its views to the government. Since the Third Session of the Ninth CPPCC National Committee last year, one procedure was added to the opening meeting's agenda, requiring one vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee to make a special report on proposals. Ye said that due to the hard work of relevant governmental departments, most proposals submitted during the last session have been properly dealt with. To date, 97.9 per cent of the proposals have been answered, according to Ye. "It is the result of the painstaking efforts of the departments," he said. By March 7, CPPCC members had submitted 3,585 proposals, among which 3,442 have been put on file for further examination and implementation. "Proposals concerning important issues should be put in order of priority and you should communicate regularly with CPPCC members to listen to their views face to face," Ye suggested to government representatives present at the meeting. The CPPCC National Committee said that proposals submitted during the annual CPPCC sessions should be dealt with before August, and those submitted outside annual sessions should be dealt with within three months after being received. |
