Indian FM to Visit Washington in Early April

External Affairs Jaswant Singh will visit Washington in the first week of April for a meeting with US Secretary of State Colin Powell to ensure continuity and take forward the new momentum in Indo-US ties.

Singh, who will be in Washington from April 5 to 7, is undertaking the visit at the invitation of Powell, a move seen here as a reflection of keen desire of the US administration to forge closer ties with India.

A foreign office spokesman said that Singh, who now holds additional charge as Defense Minister, would be meeting high officials of the new US administration, besides Powell.

The entire gamut of regional, international and bilateral issues would be covered during the visit, the spokesman added.
