Shanghai to Stage Int'l Computer-Net Exhibition

The seventh China International Computer-Net 2001 Exhibition will be staged in Shanghai, May 15-18.

As a part of the serial activities of "Asia-Pacific Urban Information Forum," the exhibition will cover nearly 20,000 square meters of floor space, and attract nearly 300 IT companies from over 20 countries in the world, including China, the United States, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Experts will also hold forums concerning Linux, Anti-Virus Solutions and E-business in China during this exhibition, which is held by Shanghai Bohua International Exhibition Co.Ltd.

Up to now, Shanghai has set up the world's largest cable TV network with nearly 3.5 million users, and its regional optic fiber cable has covered 95 percent of the area, with over 1 million Internet users.

Information technology has become Shanghai's number one pillar industry in 2000, whose total output value surpassed 100 billion yuan last year.
