Vice President Meets Albanian Guest
Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao affirmed China's emphasis on relations with Albania during a meeting with Speaker Skender Gjinushi of Albanian Assembly Monday, stressing China respects the development course chosen by Albania.
Hu spoke highly of Sino-Albanian relations, saying despite changes in both domestic and international situations, traditional friendship has always been deeply seated in the hearts of the two peoples.
China appreciates the One-China position consistently pursued by Albania and is willing to further promote the relationship on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, and non- interference with each other's internal affairs, he said.
Gjinushi said Albania also attaches great importance to its friendship with China and his current visit is aimed at further deepening understanding about China and stimulating inter- parliamentary contacts and the overall relationship.
On behalf of the Albanian government, he reiterated once again Albania's pursuit of the One-China Policy, adding that all parties of Albania are unanimous on this point.
The speaker is visiting China as a guest of Chairman Li Peng of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress.
