Siemens Favoring China's SMT Market
Siemens Production and Logistics Electronics Assembly (PLEA) Division held an inauguration ceremony recently to commemorate the successful shipment of its 10,000th Surface Mount Technology (SMT) placement machine in Pudong Free Trade Zone Industrial Complex.
Chen Yaosong, senior president of Siemens PLEA said the reason Shanghai was the place chosen to hold the shipment ceremony is a signal that Siemens favors its Chinese SMT market and is confident in China's entrance into World Trade Organization.
Surface Mount Technology is a new generation of electronics circuit assembly technology, which helps the automation of production. It has become the core technology and key equipment of the modern electronic information product manufacturing.
As one of the SMT leaders, Siemens has expanded its Chinese SMT market in recent years and set up technology support centers in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen to provide a full-spectrum of service. Chen also indicated that Siemens is making efforts to realize the localization of SMT in China.
