Defense Minister Meets Former US Secretary of State Kissinger
Chinese government firmly opposes arms sales to Taiwan by the United States, said Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian Monday.
Chi, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, urged the US to understand fully the damaging impact it will have if they sell arms to Taiwan, hoping that the US will deal with the issue and not to infringe upon the China-US relations and the interests of the people of the two countries.
Chi and former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger also exchanged views on China-US state and military relations and other issues of common concern.
At the request of Kissinger, Chi briefed the US guests on China's defense policy and army building.
