Inter-link Between Telecom Operators Reported

China is reported to have succeeded lately in inter-link between Telecom providers under the support of related government departments. China Telecom opened international and domestic long-distance call, intelligent network, client service system, IP network, Internet and other services for China Mobile, China Unicom, Jitong, China Netcom in succession, with long-distance digital circuits reaching 8,630.

As more and more Telecom companies are vying for a Telecom market share in China, different Telecom operators are in a dire need to be linked with each other. Telecom Regulations of the People's Republic of China also promulgated rules to regulate the linkage. China Unicom increased its construction of long-distance Telecom network and is in a strong desire to link itself up with others.

As one of the leading Telecom operators in China, China Telecom has a large capacity of transmission network built nationwide. The company set up an inter-link department and attaches great importance to such a service to be provided. By the end of March 14, 2001, the bandwidth of 2 mega of long-distance circuits reached a cumulative total of 9,327. It fulfills its linkage with China Unicom, China Mobile, Jitong, China Netcom, it helps China Unicom open IP phone call service in 293 cities, long-distance call service in 271 cities, and intellectual network service in 266 cities. China Telecom also launched IP phone service and Internet service for China Mobile, Jitong, China Netcom in 262, 139, 115 cities, respectively.

Insiders say that this move will pull the curtain for Telecom operators to compete openly, it will also help promote informationalization for national economy and social service in the interest of consumers.
