No Organization Allowed to Endanger Social Stability: HK Official

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) government will never allow any organization to take advantage of the SAR's tolerance and freedom to endanger its social order and stability, a Hong Kong official said Sunday in Hong Kong.

Stephen Lam, Information Coordinator of the SAR government, said while attending an anti-evil cult exhibition that the government will not allow any organization to use Hong Kong to endanger the mainland's social order and stability.

The SAR government, which gives great importance to the protection of the region's interests, is closely following the development of the Falun Gong group in Hong Kong, said Lam.

When asked whether the government will take actions against Falun Gong, Lam said the government will act in accordance with the Basic Law and relevant laws. All organizations in Hong Kong should act in line with Hong Kong's Basic Law and other relevant laws, he said.

There are many places both in and outside China having been affected by evil cults, Lam said, adding that he believed the anti- evil cult exhibition, held by the Hong Kong-based "Wen Wei Po" newspaper, will help people know the history of the evil cults.
