Moi, also chairman of the IGAD Subcommittee on conflict in the Sudan, said the internal conflict in the Sudan was the longest in the world and the situation was of grave concern to humanity. He reiterated the organization's commitment to solving the conflict in the Sudan, saying: "I have been carrying out consultations with my colleague in the region aimed at pushing forward the peace process as part of the ongoing consultation." The president said he was planning to visit Khartoum very soon to consult with Sudanese President Omar Hassan Ahmad Al-Bashir, with high hopes that the consultation would lead to a peace summit.
