Air-crash Kills 16 in Angola

An airplane belonging to a private aviation company crashed on Saturday near Angola's southern city of Lubango, killing 16 and wounding one, reported in Luanda on Saturday night the state-owned TV station TPA.

The accident took place at 11:00 a.m. (local time), some 25 kilometers away from the city of Lubango, capital of the central south Huila province.

According to the official TV station, among the 16 victims is a high-ranking official of the Angolan state-owned Oil Company SONANGOL, and the only survivor is a Sweden passenger.

It was reported that the plane had passed all examinations before it took off from the airport of the Angolan capital city of Luanda this morning for Lubango, located some 600 kilometers south to Luanda.

An analyst was quoted by TPA as saying that the pilot suffered excessive fatigue after a long-term and continuous flight, which is possibly one of the causes of the accident.
