According to information released at the press conference, last year the number of Taiwan compatriots visiting China's mainland for various reasons for the first time exceeded 3 million, up 36.3 percent over the previous year. Also last year, the indirect trade volume between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait reached 30.5 billion U.S. dollars, up 31.1 percent over the previous year's figure.
