Six Bank Robbers Executed in JiangxiSix bank robbers were executed Friday morning in this capital of east China's Jiangxi Province. The robbers snatched 500,000 yuan (60,000 US dollars) from a banking office -- of the Agricultural Bank of China -- on the afternoon of November 11 last year, killing two innocent people on the spot, according to the court. Before the robbery, the four robbers -- Hua Min, Hu Guanghua, Zheng Guowei and Luo Jian -- strangled a taxi driver that afternoon and drove the taxi to meet the other two conspirators: Long Fengjie and Wu Zhaojun. The robbers had two hunting rifles. They entered the bank at about 6:20 p.m., wearing masks and gloves. Four of the robbers broke into the office while two watched the entrance holding explosives and self-made pistol, the court said. Hua Min shot two depositors dead with a hunting rifle, while Hu Guanghua forced the clerk to open the safety gate. They took the cash and fled in the car, according to the court. The six men, all exconvicts, were arrested two months later. The Intermediate People's Court of Nanchang condemned the six men to death for murder and robbery, with their political rights deprived and property confiscated. Hua Min, Hu Guanghua, Zheng Guowei and Long Fengjie appealed to the Higher People's Court of Jiangxi, which turned down their appeal.
