Premier Meets Authors of "China's Century"

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met with the foreign authors of the newly published book "China's Century" on Friday.

Extending his congratulations on the book's publication, Zhu expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the authors, editors and publisher to introduce to the world China's reform and opening-up and economic development.

China has made remarkable progress since the start of reform and opening-up, with the nation's overall strength increasing, living standards of the people improving and social undertakings enhanced, the premier said.

In the coming years, China will continue to deepen reform, expand opening-up, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the international community and draw lessons from the experiences of other foreign countries, Zhu said.

Expressing their respect for China's achievements in the past years, the foreign authors said during the meeting that they will make further efforts to cooperate with their Chinese partners and help the outside world know more about China.

"China's Century," featuring China's development in various fields, contains articles by a number of high-ranking Chinese officials, foreign diplomats to China and entrepreneurs from the world's "top 500" firms.
