Overseas Chinese Submit Anti-Cult to Swiss Authorities

A group of Chinese in Switzerland submitted letters against Falun Gong religious cult to the Swiss authorities on Thursday morning.

In the letters to the Swiss parliament and the Swiss foreign ministry in the Swiss capital of Bern, they urge the Swiss authorities not to provide any direct or indirect support or encouragement to the evil cult.

The letters were signed by some 500 Chinese students and residents in Switzerland and people of Swiss and other nationalities within the country.

They also called on the Swiss federal government to be on alert against the Falun Gong cult and not to let it disturb social order in Switzerland and harm the Swiss citizens themselves.

According to the letters, the Falun Gong cult, headed by Li Hongzhi, has caused deaths of more than 1,600 followers and innocent people. Li Hongzhi also plotted the recent Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident.

As the United Nations Human Rights Commission will start its 57th session here next week, the group of Chinese also submitted a similar letter Thursday afternoon to the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva.
