Books on Chinese Pottery, Porcelain Published

A 15-volume series on Chinese pottery and porcelain was published Thursday.

The series covers the history and types of Chinese pottery and porcelain from some 8,000 years ago in the Neolithic Age to the end of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

The books contain pictures of some 3,600 masterpieces.

The book also introduces excavation, research and display of pottery and porcelain in China.

The books show that the best pieces of Chinese pottery and porcelain are preserved on the mainland of China, said Wang Qingzheng, editor-in-chief of the series.

Pottery is an art form which emerged throughout the world, while porcelain is a Chinese invention.
