A Russian passenger plane was hijacked Thursday shortly after take-off from Istanbul's Ataturk airport in Turkey, Anatolia news agency reported.
The Moscow-bound airliner with 162 passengers on board was commandeered just 30 minutes after it left Istanbul at 1:30 p.m. (1130 GMT), and is apparently flying to Cairo, Egypt, the report said, adding that two hijackers seized control of the aircraft, a Tupolev 156.
Turkish television reported that at least one was wounded and the hijackers appear to be of Chechen origin.
