Provincial Museum to Highlight Chinese Revolutionary Mementos

Shanxi Province in north China will spend over 300 million yuan (36.1 million US dollars) to build a provincial museum featuring cultural relics and historical legacies, especially those used during China's revolutionary age.

The museum, a key project in China's construction list this year, will cover 11.2 ha of land in the Fenhe River scenic area. Construction work will be initiated early this May and is scheduled to be completed in five years.

Shanxi, a revolutionary base in China, has rich reserves of both historical and cultural relics.

Statistics show that Shanxi has identified a total of 35,000 pieces of immovable historical relics so far, and another 500,000 removable historical mementos are now well preserved in local museums at all levels and cultural relic protection institutes.
