Chinese Steel Giant to Develop Eco-friendly Steel Center
The Shanghai Baoshan Iron and Steel Group Corp., China's most sophisticated steel producer, is to develop one of its subsidiaries into a production base for environment-friendly steel, a company manager announced Wednesday.
The 5th Steel Company of the Baoshan Group is getting rid of pollutant-generating machinery and equipment.
"The new production line, under construction, will root out long-standing problems of air pollution and turn the 5th company into a ecologically-sound steel production center," said Xie Wei, general manager of the 5th Steel Company.
The Baoshan Group plans to develop all its subsidiaries into specialized, eco-friendly production centers.
