Two Lion Cubs Born in Sichuan Zoo

An African lion gave birth to two cubs Wednesday morning in Ya'an, in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

The cubs weigh 1.25 kg each and are 0.6 meters long.

The gestation period of A'juan, a four-year-old lioness, was 114 days. This was her first pregnancy.

The Bifengxia Zoo, where A'juan and her cubs live, has witnessed the births of some 14 Northeast tigers, 15 African lions and two white lions since it opened in 1998.

The head keeper said that most of the new-born cubs will be exchanged for animals in other zoos both in China and abroad.
