HK, Macao, Guangdong Crime Investigation Units Hold Joint MeetingHeads of crime investigation units of Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong of China held the second tripartite meeting Wednesday in Hong Kong with a view to combating cross-boundary crimes and improving the law and order.The meeting is a bi-annual event which provided the opportunity for heads of crime investigation units of Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong to exchange views on strategies against cross boundary crimes and discuss ways to further enhance the existing liaison mechanism. The law enforcers reviewed their joint efforts in combating triad, human smuggling, commercial crimes, drugs and the abuse of psychotropic substances by the youngsters. They were of the view that there was a need to further enhance cooperation and exchange of intelligence among the three law enforcement departments in tackling illegal activities. In spite of the different judicial systems, the law enforcement departments of Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong held a common mission to fight crime and maintain the law and order with the ultimate purpose of stemming out cross-boundary crimes efficiently. The first meeting was held in Guangzhou, capital city of Guangdong province, in August last year. Similar meetings will be held regularly in Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong in rotation.
