Dalai Lama Warned Not to Be Controlled by Elements of "Tibet Independence"

A senior official from Tibet Wednesday asked the Dalai Lama not to be controlled by those who advocate "Tibet independence" and not to be surrounded by core elements for "Tibet independence."

"The policy of the central government concerning contacts with the Dalai Lama has been consistent and clear, that is, the Dalai Lama must really give up his pursuit of `Tibet independence', stop activities to split the motherland, and publicly accept the fact that Tibet is an inalienable part of China, that Taiwan is a province of China and that the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing the whole of China," said Raidi, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress.

Raidi told a press conference that contacts between the Chinese government and the Dalai Lama belong to China's internal affairs which no foreigner is allowed to meddle in.

As a matter of fact, all the actions of the Dalai Lama have been planned by anti-China forces in the West, and the Dalai clique has become a faithful tool of anti-China forces, he said.

The Dalai Lama has been in exile abroad for more than 40 years, but he has never given up his stand for "Tibet independence" and never ceased political activities to separate the motherland, Raidi said.

The Dalai Lama has asked to have contacts and talks with the central government and the central government has had contacts with his representatives on several occasions, Raidi said, adding that the latest contact took place last year.

The channel for contact has remained open for years, said Raidi. But it has been proven that the Dalai Lama has no sincerity for contacts and talks, and that the Dalai side is fully responsible for the lack of progress in the talks.
