According to the new regulations, used household electronic devices such as electric cookers and telephone are excluded from the imports. Residential waste, plastic and dangerous articles are also banned from the imports. The circular stressed that only companies approved by the Ministry of Foreign Trade to conduct trade are allowed to continue the imports. They are forbidden to act as trade agents to import waste for other companies. Sources with the provincial government said that China requires waste importers to have the ability of processing the waste and treating pollution, which might be produced by the imports. |
