Survey: Most Residents Satisfied with Railway Passenger Transport

The State Economic Situation Monitoring Center has lately made a survey sampling China's railway passenger transport among 900 residents in Beijing, Wuhan and Xi'an. Most respondents positively responded.

They are satisfied with the country's railway passenger transport along with higher requirements made as for first-class image, first-rate equipment, and unimpeachable service.

According to the survey, 29.5 percent respondents expressed their satisfaction over China's current railway passenger transport; 56.7 percent chose "basically satisfied". Positive answers made 86.2 percent. Another 13.8 percent checked "dissatisfied". In recent years, China's railway passenger transport introduced marketalization into its operational system with traditional concepts gradually upgraded. In regard to hardware, large amounts of money are invested in scale construction and renovation, for instance, developing new types of trains for different grades and raising the speed of railway transportation, etc; as for software, they put passengers' requests in the first place on top of enhanced quality awareness.

In all conscience, there are quite a few problems existing in China's railway passenger transport. As the survey shows, 29.3 percent of respondents complained about the difficulty in buying railway tickets, a long-standing problem. Obviously, the railway transport department still failed to meet the demand of passengers though every bit of effort has been made to alleviate the difficulties. There are 27.3 percent of respondents expecting services to be further improved, leaving another 27.3 percent for an improved railway environ. Meanwhile, some criticized for overdue arrivals of trains.
