Jinan Opens Environmentally-Friendly Food Store
A specialty store which only sells environmentally-friendly foodstuffs was opened on Tuesday in Jinan, the capital of east China's Shandong Province.
The new store is believed to be the first of its kind in Shandong. It is jointly financed by the Shandong Province Environmentally-Friendly Food Distribution Center and the Guihe Shopping Center, the leading department store in Jinan.
According to a store source, the new store will provide more than 150 authorized environmentally-friendly food products.
Meanwhile, it plans to open branches across the province and the country in two to three years, the source said.
Shandong is one of China's major agricultural and vegetable-producing bases. At present, there are 81 authorized enterprises here producing environmentally-friendly food products.
The China National Consumers' Association has made its main publicity theme for the year 2001 "Environmentally-friendly consumption".
