Chinese Girl Sets World Record for Memorizing MusicA six year old Chinese girl has set a world record for learning music by heart.Zhang Chuhan, from the Baoyun Music Kindergarten in Ningbo, a coastal city in east China's Zhejiang Province, passed a test by playing 32 pieces of music, composed by such prestigious musicians as Chernyshevsky and Chaikovski, without looking at the scores, in 57 minutes. She received a certificate from the Shanghai Office of the Guinness Book of World Records recently. Zhang showed interest in music when she was only seven months old, responding to her father singing by wagging her head. She began to practice playing piano at about four years old. Lin Yuanning, Zhang's piano teacher at the kindergarten, was the first to find that she has an extraordinarily good memory for music. "She can play any piece she learnt fluently without checking music scores," Lin said. "Her memory is almost as good as a computer." |
