Mar.6 Explosion Survivals Back to School

Schooling Restored After Explosion
At 9:00, March 12, ceremonies were held in thirteen primary schools including Luxia and Tianyang Village Schools in Wanzai County to welcome their new pupils who survived the explosion of March 6 to join their classes. Thereupon except the injured ones, all the pupils survived the explosion have been back to school now.

Wen Lisheng, the former fourth grade pupil of the Primary School of Fanglin Village in Wanzai County, is sitting in the classroom, new schoolbag and textbooks in hand. Lan Xiumei, Wen's mother, a villager of the Fanglin Village told the journalist with gratitude, "we are really worried if the child would have to quit the school this semester."

Fanglin Village has 258 students. To render convenience to these pupils, the educational committee of the county made an arrangement for them to study in 13 primary schools that are located respectively in three towns within a radius of two kilometers from the Fanglin School.

Working staff of the educational committee called on the parents, sorting for their opinions and suggestions one by one. Since most of the parents are worried about the safety of the first and second grade children, the regional Party committee and the government have decided to set up two teaching stations in Fanglin Village by inviting experienced teachers from the primary schools of Tanbuzhen Town to teach here.

As most of the textbooks are reduced to ashes in the explosion, with the help of the higher authorities, Wanzai Xinhua Bookstore has tried by means and ways to collect 250 sets of new textbooks from all counties of Jiangxi Province. The educational committee presented new schoolbags and other stationery to the pupils. The County Middle School and Xianyuan Junior High School also offered a helping hand by providing them with 130 sets of new desks and stools.

Cadres in concern from the Wanzai County of Yichun city called on the teachers and pupils on Monday morning. Taking opinions and suggestions widely collected from among the masses into consideration, they have largely fixed the new location of the Fanglin Primary School and an investment of 600,000 yuan is to be injected in for the reconstruction of new school buildings. All funds needed for the construction are to be pooled in from the governments of the Province, Yichun City and Wanzai County. A first-rate primary school is hopefully to be completed before this autumn, covering an area of over 1,600 square meters with computer and phonetic classrooms attached to it.

It is also reported that the Wanzai 3.6 accident has aroused extensive concerns from among the different circles of the society. Many warmhearted people offered their donations to the victims. Shanghai intellectuals who used to live and work in Lingdongxiang of the Wanzai County took the lead in donating 50,000 yuan, and followed by cadres and villagers of the Wanzai County in offering their aids. By the noontime on Monday, the Fanglin Primary School has received a total of 260,000 yuan for contribution.
