Quake Jolts West Java, IndonesiaAn earthquake, measuring 6.7 on the Richter Scale, jolted West Java, Indonesia, on Tuesday, but no casualty was reported.The Meteorology and Geophysics Agency spokesman told Xinhua that the quake occurred at 06:35 a.m. local time (23:35 GMT Monday) . The quake centered at 7.77 degrees southern latitude and 105.48 degrees eastern longitude, about 230 kilometers southwest of Jakarta. "The quake was felt in Jakarta, Pandeglang, Sukabumi and Rangkasbitung, but so far we haven't received any reports of damage or casualties," the spokesman said. Indonesia is prone to earthquakes as it is situated at the Pacific "Ring of Fire," a string of volcanoes and earthquake zones that stretch from Mexico to New Zealand.
