Public Logs on to Lodge Complaints

Besides a telephone hotline, people who have criticisms or suggestions about local government in Shenzhen can now log onto an official website to submit their opinions.

Complaints will have to be settled within 30 working days.

The move is part of the local government's effort to increase efficiency and enhance government transparency with the ultimate aim of building an honest and clean government.

"People from all circles are encouraged to come forward with advice and complaints about such things as policies, working efficiency and staff manners via the website (www.shenzhen.gov.cn),"said local government spokesman Hu Aiming.

"Also,citizens, as well as investors, can learn about the government's latest policies and related information through the website," he added.

He said a special team will be responsible for handling suggestions and will deliver complaints to the right departments within one working day.
