DPRK Accuses US of Pressuring It With Issues of Kidnapping and Terrorism

The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Monday accused the United States of trying to use "issues of kidnapping and terrorism" as a lever to bring pressure upon the country.

In a signed commentary, Rodong Sinmun -- mouthpiece of the ruling Workers' Party -- said the DPRK has nothing to do with kidnapping and terrorism and it has consistently opposed all forms of terrorism.

When meeting a visiting "group of relatives of Japanese nationals allegedly abducted," an official of the US State Department said that the United States does not have any intention to remove the DPRK from "the list of countries it believes are sponsoring terrorism," said the commentary.

It accused the US of aiming to commit state terrorism against the DPRK by escalating the country's military drills in South Korea and Japan while beefing up military presence there.

The DPRK can not but clarify its stand once again as US persistently keeps the Asian country on its list of terrorist-supporting countries, the commentary stressed.

Last September, Washington had agreed to remove the DPRK from the list of countries it believes sponsoring terrorism.
