China's First Silicon Chip Production Line Operational
China's first 8-inch monocrystalline polished silicon chip production line started operation recently, according to the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) who financed the project.
The chip can meet the demands of 0.25 micron integrated circuits, signifying that China's monocrystalline polished silicon chip, used for sub-micron grand scale integrated circuits, is equal with the world's best, an ICBC spokesman said.
The spokesman said that the project, developed entirely by China, has an annual production capacity of 6,000 square inches of 8-inch monocrystaline polished chips. The project cost 1.05 billion yuan, of which 260 million yuan was financed by ICBC loans.
The project is expected to make annual sales of 780 million yuan and profits of 230 million yuan.
