China to Further Support Private Businesses

China will give more support to the development of private businesses in the next few years, Li Rongrong, minister in charge of the State Economic and Trade Commission said Saturday.

He made the remark at a press conference sponsored by the ongoing session of the Ninth National People's Congress (NPC).

The newly appointed minister said the government is building a credit system for private businesses, which will make it easier for them to obtain bank loans and other forms of financial support.

All industries that have opened to overseas investment will be opened to private businesses, he said.

Intermediary services will also be strengthened to provide cheaper and more efficient services to the private sector, he added.
