Lan Lixin Sets Asian Record in Women's 1,500m

Lan Lixin of China beat the Asian 1,500 meters indoor record at the world indoor championships in Lisbon on Saturday.

The former world junior champion, 22, clocked a time of four minutes 14.64 seconds to slash a hundredth of a second off the old mark set by compatriot Yan Wei in Jinan, China in 1997.

But she failed to qualify as one of the fastest losers for Sunday's final.

Dong Yanmei Sets Asian Record in Worlds Indoor

Chinese runner Dong Yanmei set an Asian record in the women's 3,000 meters event at the world indoor athletics championships in Lisbon on Saturday.

Dong clocked a time of eight minutes 41.34 seconds, which placed fifth on the final table.
