Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori on Saturday signaled his intention to step down in the near future by telling senior officials of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) that he wants the party to move up its presidential race slated for September, Kyodo News reported.
Mori, in a meeting with five top LDP executives at his official residence in Tokyo, said that the exact timing of the leadership race should be subject to further discussions, the report said.
