The 2001 Hong Kong Flower Show, with the theme of "Spring Blossoms in Melody", was officially opened to the public Friday at Victoria Park.
The flower show, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, attracts more than 86 participating organizations from different parts of the world to showcase their artistic floral arrangements and exquisite landscape displays.
Begonia was selected as the theme flower for this year as its color and glamour symbolized a vibrant and exciting Hong Kong. More than 48,000 pots of Begonia of different species and varieties are featured in the show.
To create a festive atmosphere, a number of music performances and cultural presentations will be staged during the show period, and a rich variety of about 20 fringe activities will also be organized.
