Cross-Strait Textile and Garments Exhibition Opens

The fourth cross-Taiwan Strait textile and garments exhibition opened Friday in the renowned garment town of Shishi in east China's Fujian Province.

Taiwan businessmen attending the event this time are significantly more in number, demonstrating growing passion for developing a textile and garment business on the mainland.

Over one-tenth of the show booths were rented by Taiwan businessmen.

Huang Yaotang, chairman of the board of directors of Taiwan's Textile Development Council, this time led the heads of all three subcommittees to attend the event.

Taiwan and the mainland share a strong relationship in the garments industry, and more cooperation can help increase China's competitiveness in the international market, said Huang.

The exhibition made 2.4 billion yuan in trade volume in the last three events. Some 5,000 businessmen at home and abroad are expected to attend the event this year.
