Japan Becomes Shaanxi's Largest Trade Partner

Japan has become the largest trade partner of northwest China's Shaanxi Province, with the two-way trade value reaching 300 million US dollars last year.

Shaanxi's volume of trade with Japan accounted for 14 percent of its total trade volume in 2000, according to the latest statistics released by the Xi'an Customs House.

Of the total trade volume, import came to 183 million US dollars, up 32 percent over the previous year, while export surged 22.7 percent at 120 million US dollars.

The amount of trade value handled by the state-owned enterprises was 229 million US dollars and the amount done by privately owned firms increased by 3.48 times.
