Beijing Judges Wrap up Training Course in AustraliaBeijing's first group of 30 judges have returned from a 20-day training course in Australia designed to improve their ability to handle local political and legal affairs.Beijing will send eight more groups of outstanding judicial officials abroad this year for short-term training courses, according to an official with the local committee for politics and law. With China's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) imminent, more high-level judicial specialists will be needed to deal with the sorts of legal matters that will emerge in the changing economic and political arenas. The Chinese capital has organized regular exchanges for personnel training with Australia and Germany. It plans to open new training channel with the Netherlands this year. Trainee candidates must go through a strict selection process. Those chosen can spend no more than a year on their advanced legal studies abroad. |
