Demand for Personal Computers in Taiwan Expected to GrowDemand for personal computers might grow by 12.2 percent to 1.5 million units this year in Taiwan, due to a stimulus plan recently unveiled by the local authorities, a Taiwan information institute said on Thursday.According to Taiwan media, analysts of Taiwan's Institute for Information Institute (III) adjusted upward the growth rate from the 3.3 percent targeted earlier by the III to 12.2 percent, thanks to an 800 billion new Taiwan dollars (25 billion HK dollars) plan by the local authorities to stimulate local demand. In addition to PCs, an advisor with the III's Information Center, predicted that sales of notebook computers, servers and information industry-related products will also benefit from the stimulus plan. The notebook sales will rise by 27 percent to reach 385,000 units this year, while sales of servers will also increase by 32 percent to 67,000 units in 2001, the advisor said. |
