Chinese, Japanese Experts Find Effective Way to Battle Longicorn

After seven years of research, Chinese and Japanese experts have announced that they have found effective ways to battle longicorn that run rampant in forests in northern China.

The longicorn pest is also known as the smokeless forest fire. The long-horn beetle has affected some 170,000 hectares of forests in northern China, arousing grave attention.

During seven years of cooperation, experts from the two countries studied the situation and ecological nature of the pest, and the monitoring and forecasting system.

The experts fostered a group of tree species capable of resisting longicorn and put forward a program to grow trees that are resistant to longicorns.
