Qinghai Attracts More Overseas Tourists

Along with the massive campaign to develop China's wild west, more overseas tourists are casting their eyes upon this mysterious land.

Verging Tibet to the north with peculiar tableland views and the mysterious Tibetan branch of Buddhism, Qinghai Province in west China has become a hot tourist site.

Statistics show that the province received some 30,000 overseas tourists last year, 60 percent over that in the previous year, while some 7.4 million US dollars of tourism revenue was reaped, rising 124 percent.

The policy to develop the west has also attracted many overseas investors, said an official with local tourism bureau.

After the province signed a 150 million yuan contract with Hong Kong companies to explore tourism resources at Qinghai Lake, more Hong Kong companies have visited the province and tried to follow suit.
