Tianjin, ROK Establish Int'l School

A school to give Korean children the same curriculum they had back home was founded Wednesday in this port city in north China.

Sponsored by the Education Department of the Republic of Korea (ROK), the school offers courses for infants, primary and middle school students as well as mothers of students.

Most of the teachers are from the ROK.

Korean students here will take courses similar to those in their homeland, such as classes in Chinese and English, music, art, computer science and physical education.

Over 1,300 ROK-funded companies are operating in Tianjin, and the population of Korean residents here has reached some 10,000.

Previously, the city had only one Korean school.

The ROK has opened 24 schools for its children worldwide, according to an official from the education department.

Apart from the ROK, Japan and the United States have also established schools in the city for their native children.
