East China Fair Attracts Over 10,000 Overseas BusinessmenFor the first time in its 10-year history, the Eastern China Export Commodities Fair, one of the largest regional fairs in China, which closed Wednesday, attracted over 10,000 overseas businessmen.A total of 10,560 overseas businessmen came to the fair this time, 45 percent over that of last year. The fair, mainly featuring textiles and light industry products, hit US$1.532 billion in export deals, rising 18.35 percent. Experts attributed the satisfactory results to the reason that China has been out of the financial crisis. Of the total 125 countries and regions where overseas businessmen are from, those from Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Republic of Korea and the United States are the largest in number. Some 60 percent of the overseas businessmen are from Asia, while those from Africa and Australia have grown by 68 percent and 35 percent respectively in number. The arrival of as many US businessmen as last year) spoke for the fact that the uncertainty of the U.S. economy has not exerted much influence over China's foreign trade with the country. |
