Israel Urged to Return Arab Lands for Realization of Peace

Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri has called on Israel to honor international resolutions and return the occupied Arab lands in a bid to realize peace in the Middle East, Al Mustaqbal newspaper reported on Thursday.

Responding to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's inaugural speech Wednesday night, Hariri said that the Lebanese people "are keen on making peace" in the region, said the paper owned by Hariri.

Lebanese and Arabs "long for peace," Hariri said, urging Israel to return the Arab occupied lands.

"It is not impossible to make peace between Lebanon and Israel if the Jewish state and its leaders respect the international laws and the relevant United Nations resolutions, and if they return the occupied lands to the Arabs."

Israel withdrew its troops from south Lebanon last May, ending 22-year occupation. But the two neighbors have yet to reach a peace agreement.
