Expert on China's Space Industry in Early 21st Century

New carrier rockets, satellites and manned space flight will be the development priorities of China's space industry in the early years of the 21st century, an expert said at a press conference Thursday.

On the top agenda will be a new-type carrier rocket which is not only more powerful but also environment-friendly, said Min Guirong, a member of the Ninth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, in session here since last Saturdy.

Efforts will also focus on the development of new types of remote sensing satellite, telecommunications satellite and navigation satellite, in addition to manned space flight, said Min, who is also a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
