China Opposed to Cloning of Man

The Chinese government is opposed to research into the cloning of man, a scientist said Thursday.

"The cloning of man is not allowed in China," said Hong Guofan, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee.

"However, we differentiate between cloning technology and the cloning of man," said Hong, who is also director of the State Gene Research Center under the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
