Taiwan Compatriots in Beijing Condemn Japanese Caricature Book
Several Taiwan-related organizations in Beijing headed by the Taiwan Democratic Self- government League Central Committee and the All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots Wednesday strongly condemned a right-wing Japanese author for distorting history in his political caricature book on Taiwan.
The book wantonly distorts history, defends Japanese militarism and supports separatism in Taiwan, the organizations agreed in a seminar held in Beijing Wednesday.
The participants said the book makes Taiwan compatriots " unbearable" by its distorting history, politics and society of Taiwan and insulting the patriotism of Taiwan people.
The participants called for serious attention to the fact that such a book can be openly published in Taiwan and that some Taiwanese even made disreputable remarks in the book.
Such remarks hurt the feelings and esteem of all Chinese people including Taiwan compatriots, and are a betrayal against Taiwan compatriots who have long possessed the tradition of patriotism, and therefore are condemned by Chinese people from around the world, they agreed.
