Estonian President Leaves for Macao

President Lennart Meri of the Republic of Estonia left Haikou Wednesday afternoon for Macao to continue his China trip.

Meri started on Sunday his tour to Hainan, an island province in south China, where he visited some scenic spots and tourism facilities as well as some agricultural projects.

In a meeting with Wang Houhong, vice governor of the province Tuesday afternoon, Meri spoke highly of the achievements the province has made in tourism industry, extending the wish to enhance the bilateral exchange and cooperation.

Prior to this tour of Hainan, Meri and his delegation visited Shanghai, China's industrial and commercial center.

Meri arrived in Beijing last Thursday for a ten-day unofficial visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Jiang Zemin.
