Key Automaker Sets Record in Exports

The Changchun-based First Automobile Works (FAW) Group, China's largest automaker, reaped US$102.4 million in exports last year, up more than 80 percent over 1999.

The automobile manufacturer has earned some US$39 million from exporting complete vehicles last year, or 2.5 times of the figure in 1999.

Export of car parts, accounting for 13 percent of FAW's total exports value, has become a key component of its export volume.

The main export markets are in West Asia, Africa and Middle East.
