Eighty-year Man Notes Down Rural Changes in Half a CenturyAn 80 year-old man in north China' s Tianjin Municipality has recorded the changes in his home village over the past five decade with more than one million Chinese characters.Liu Rui, born in a village in Jixian County in 1921, has started recorded the changes and key events that have occurred in his village since 1947 in his diary. He began to compile his works based on his diary in the 1970s. Liu has finished seven volumes on the village's changes in 50 years, and compiled volumes on the local land reform, medical care reform, old reproduction health materials and records, and events during the Cultural Revolution period (1966-1976). What he has done will make up for the holes in the study of the village's changes, and will be of great value to the study of the social changes in rural areas as a whole. |
